Is everyone aware of the border crossing restrictions?

This is in effect starting June 1, 2009.

Something that may be of interest to our U.S. visitors coming to Canada...

"Visitors from any country other than the U.S. need a passport to enter Canada. On the other hand, because of a friendly border crossing agreement between Canada and the United States, Canada Border Services does not require U.S. citizens to present a passport to enter Canada. This friendly border crossing agreement used to be mutual; however, now the WHTI requires that U.S. citizens have a passport to return home."

Looks like it goes both ways now...don't leave home without a passport.

Kurt, us Canucks have been using passwords for... who knows... 30 years? Perhaps some Canadians have just been using a drivers license up to now however.

For those in the US... no worry... you don't have to pass through Canada to get to Fish Creek.

We went to FCP last year via Canada.... We went to Niagara Falls and then looped up on the north side of Lake Ontario... visited John in Brampton and then stayed at Sandbanks Provincial Park for a couple of days before dropping back into NY.

So it can be done.... just not required.

We did it backwards. Left Ottawa (Canada) to go to Niagara-on-the-Lake (Canada). Went vs Ogensburg, camped across from Sandbanks on the opposite shore then back into Canada. Then back in the US, headed to Syracuse etc, then back home to Canada. Started to forget which currency to use each day.

NYS is now issuing "enhanced" drivers licences,(so are a lot of other border states) which is as good as a passport if re-entering the states by land or sea. You can now also get a passport card, which is the same size as a drivers license and it will also get you back in by land or sea.

Well everyone, We just changed our site to 244 from 254. The site is a handicap site and will be much easier for Laura to get around to all the rest of the sites and the water access looks easier for her as well. They told us on the phone it was only available to disabled patrons.
I have never heard of that before but Since Laura is disabled we where able to change to it. We cant wait to get there and see all of you. We are all packed and will be leaving this coming Saturday morning and will be staying till the 15th. We will get the lake broke in for all you late comers

I just read the page where you(dave) were talking about maybe reserving 244. for the big cocktail party Sorry about that... I understand 254 is now open though. I guess I should have been more up on the message board.

Hey neighbor, we're in #245 and it too is a handicap site. (go figure). Last year we were on #244 for 6 nights. Not sure what they are talking about.


Oh well, it's nice to know we'll have great neighbors. You on one side and Alan and Leslie on the other.

Hey Tom,

Yes 244 is designated for disabled campers. Not sure, but anyone is likely to be able to book it online. In making a change, perhaps the person at Reserve America people saw it designated disabled and therefore notified you of it. The disabled sites are flagged on the Campsite Guide (Handicap Sites) and Map Navigator on fishcreekpond.com . The disabled sites have a round metal ringed fireplace, modified picnic table and often are graveled based... many disabled campers mention that gravel isn't all that great for wheel chairs. The disabled sites also are only one or two sites from a washroom which is great.

Dave, we've got the site next to you and will be putting up a 14ft canopy. You're welcome to use the space if needed. We're packing and heading out next Wednesday - see ya Thursday.
