I NEED HELP...but it's not Teardrop related

My boss has asked me to come up with a new company logo and I am hoping DeanA is lurking because I know he is a graphics designer (right?). Can someone please help me come up with something? I have been here 6 years and my boss still hasn't figured out that I am not design savvy...I can't even draw a straight line...believe me. He didn't give me a deadline, yet.

We are a commercial concrete construction company and we don't do masonry...stopped doing that 25 years ago...he just never changed the name. We build schools, parking garages, etc. and we specialize in Tilt-Up which is poured-in-place walls then tilted-up in place with a crane. I know this may not get a big response but I am hoping someone can help me. I will make it worth your while...not sure yet what but it will be something camping related. Any bites? Pleeeeeeese.

Name is Florida Masonry Construction Company. No, we aren't changing the name but need a new logo for the name.

The crane is for the Tilt-Up walls, their specialty.

I wish I could help but my graphic skills are terrible.

You need a devil's advocate in this discussion and I'll volunteer.

If you took off the superfluous writing around outside (it's a logo, not a complete advertisement, yeah?) it would have a rather nice 'classic' or 'retro' feel - don't throw the old logo away just as it's about to become distinctive and special.

The crane is a big part of our company being we are Tilt-Up specialist. Before this economy went to hell, we were so busy we had to turn projects down . Now, we will pour a simpe driveway just to have some income flow. Luckily, my boss planned ahead for this but it can't last forever. I'm just grateful to be employed.

I am betting Dean will do something spectacular! I don't do cad but if it was mine I would do as Andrew said and take the wording off the outside. Maybe put some rounded cartoon type construction men with ropes and cranes and stufff. (like lego people)

Just out of curiosity, what kind of software is everyone using? Whether you're working to help Cajon Lady out on her project for a new logo, or even some of the altered pics of her existing logo that have been posted?

I cant add anything to the logo but I do know florida isnt going to lift straight up rigged like that.Its gonna tilt.. good luck Becca!!
