Skycraft Parts & Surplus in Orlando

Postby cokebottle10 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 2:43 pm

Anyone who likes to tinker will love this place. I guess the best way to describe is: If you wanted to build a "Battle Bot" on the cheap this would be your one stop store. Mostly electric stuff. Lots of parts for TDs. From drawer slides to LEDs. From wire to diamond plate. From air & hyd cylinders to car speakers.

Alot of people travel to Orlando. If you get a chance stop by. They are just off I-4. exit 87 Fairbanks Ave. They have what looks like a UFO on their sign.

The web site is not that great but a trip to the store is.

I just wanted to past this along.

Thanks,

David.

Very definitely a cool place, I grew up in the Orlando area and try to stop by Skycraft if I get to town. They have all kinds of interesting things, true surplus.

Yep, Skycraft is a really cool place. We would drive down there from Daytona to get car stereo stuff on the cheap. I usually spend a few hours digging to see what they have. It always changes so there is something new everytime.

We might be going to Orlando in early July. If so, I will check it out!

I order from them frequently. Never disappointed. Great source for wire.

Oh my gosh!!! I'd completely forgotten about that resource, just down the road a bit from us. It's been there forEVER ~ well, since I was in high school.

Make it a day, folks. Paco's is a Mexican restaurant just east of Skycraft on the same side of the street. They've been there about 26 years. YUM!

I posted this because it is a great place to go just to look at what they have. But I dare you to walk out without buyig anything. I live in Asheville NC but come to Orlando often on business and I always stop by to get something.

I will check out Paco's today for lunch.

You may also want to check out Dixie Plywood in Orlando. They have 5x10 sign board and bendy plywood in stock.

Skycraft

Postby Alfred » Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:33 pm

Hey gang!

Wow! I visited Skycraft today. Left my sweet Wife and kids at Sea World to make the sidetrip and check it out. I missed Shamu, but Skycraft is awesome. It sort of defies description really. I bought a bunch of gizmos and assorted widgets, a few things perhaps for the camper, got a cheapie swiss army knife knock-off, almost bought a government surplus Fall Out Shelter sign. Spent $30 pretty quickly, $1-$3 at a time. You could get lost in this place (thought I saw a piece of Amelia Earhardt's plane in the back). Quite a few things I didn't buy, that on the ride back to Sea World, thinking, Geez, maybe I should have bought that too. So now, I have a new favorite place to stop when we come to Florida.

I bought two of those Fallout Shelter signs when I went there a few weeks ago. One is cubicle decoration for a co-worker.

Back to Skycraft

Postby Alfred » Sat Apr 16, 2011 1:43 am

Hey Gang!

I had an opportunity to visit Skycraft Surplus again, what a great place! Spent two hours there, could have stayed longer.

Need a missile for your camper?
Image

Maybe an oscilloscope thing? Or one of the hundreds of gauges hanging from the ceiling?
Image

They have a website: http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/

and a Facebook Page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skycraft- ... 44?sk=wall

This is some sort of satellite damper, sitting next to some sort of mission control console.

Image

I'm not exactly sure how the oscilloscope ties into teardropping except that it might be pretty cool to have a camper with cockpit controls, missile defense, etc...

This is a great place to pick-up wire, other electrical doo-dad's, converters/cords, lights, quite a bit of hardware, too.

Go visit, spend an afternoon...Tell 'em AL sent you!
