Yup! One nylon bushing and the hinge is as tight as a G-string on a sumo wrestler! These will work great!

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

I used this type of hinge and found that by using a washer made out of a tupperware lid, the gap was taken up perfectly. I eliminated the wobble by replacing the pin supplied and using a bolt with cap screws. Wala! Tight and secure. Good luck. They're too pretty to not use them! :) Jim

Creative! The nylon ones I got seem like they are gonna do the trick.

I do have a NEW question tho. I am getting REAL impatient and I need to make some spacers like this to get the hinge to sit flat and I am not wanting to spend days and days staining and polyurethaning these dumb things.

Any ideas? I was thinking that I wouldn't mind if they were black, so what could I cover/paint them with that would protect the wood from the elements?

Well, no way through it but to do it I say. I made these spacers today and the 1st coat of poly is drying *sigh* I think they will look pretty cool tho in the end though, thanks for all the help, this forum is invaluable.

Here's to the details!

those are very nice. A Hodder / Nelson vibe going on in the look, there.

Those remind me of the spacers I made for my gas struts
