Last summer I bought an AMG Nitro (Sachs Madass in Europe and USA) . I bought it because it has all the features of a modern motorcycle not scooter . It weighs in at 200 lbs . It has huge disc brakes and mountain bike type stance and motorcycle sized tires .
Unfortunately the only model available to Canada was a 50cc automatic . It was dangerously slow . It was set up to go a maximum of 46kph and it was screaming when it did it .
The motor is a Honda clone . Apparently Honda's patent ran out and everyone has been copying their engine . Because of this there are new aftermarket parts everywhere .
Over the winter I installed a 88cc Big Bore kit , a new much larger carb and intake manifold and I spent several hours "race porting" the head with the die grinder .
The bike is now completely usable . I can cruise at 55kph and max out at about 65kph . With different gearing I could get it to do 75 but I would lose all bottom end . With my backpack I am pushing 275lbs .
The only thing that I do not like is the automatic transmission but after it has finished shifting it is a dream .
I live in the country and use it to cruise the country roads . It has the perfect setup for this as well as light trail riding . When I want to travel along the beach sand I switch to the original smaller drive sprocket and cruise the sand effortlessly .
The 125cc four speed model would be a great choice . AMG wanted to sell the 125cc model in Canada but it is sadly now out of business . As I understand it they lasted less than 8 months in Canada . ...... D.J.
