I don't recommend at least not painting the floor. It is the first thing I do. It keeps slivers down, and I work inside sliding around on one of those milk crates turned upside down.... saves the knees and I can move around pretty easily that way.

I used Vinyl flooring on mine it cost a little more than paint but some how it makes me feel better that its under the mattress just weird I guess.

A buck is a buck and a pound is a pound. For a place that will never be seen I just painted. Keeps the cost and the weight down.

Which weighs more, a gallon of paint or a box of self stick?
I've seen the self stick as low as $.11 sq. ft. Thats $3.52 for
a 4x8 trailer, how much is a gallon of paint?

I have just finished building my frame and will be doing the floor over the next few days. To waterproof the 3/4 plywood on top any thoughts on using Thompsons water seal since the walls and ceiling won,t be installed for a while and I need to park my Jeep in the garage.

Thats true, not to mention most everyone has some leftover paint somewhere in the house.

I used left over lino on the cabin floor and the galley floor. Mostly for looks, but also thought it would be useful in case of leaks.

I painted mine, but just because I had trap doors in my floor to get to the under floor storage. I would liked to have put vinyl or even some Akea wood flooring would be cool.

I stained and put 3 coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane on it because it to fit the style of it, and you will see the floor in the Galley so I wanted it to fit in. Also, because it didn't have any real thickness to speak of, it didn't mess with my measurements.
