Yup, that's exactly where I went. The guy was not-friendly. I could not pick out my own sheet and it was a total inconvenience to take my money. Not a pleasant experience. The wood is nice enough and quite bendy, unfortunately it is not wanting to bend on the inside radius, I laid it in there just softly to see where the squeal point was and it started creaking way too soon, so I might waste my $25, we'll see once I get to installing it. I guess I got spoiled with the outside radius, might have to do some hot towelin'!

My weekend got wasted due to unforeseen circumstances and I didn't do anything except buy the wood. I will need to do all the hatch wiring and I am still trying to find a way to get the hatch assembly under the plywood before the headliner goes in, so once again one piece becomes a whole project within itself but the end result will be worth it!

I am finalizing my door curtains too, and I got a front wooden closet hangar rod and wooden mounts too, so that will be up soon as well.

My new door hinges shipped today but I am going to wait to return the McMaster ones until I make sure these are going to be tight enough for me and work ok. McMaster has a great return policy: "Return it anytime, no RMA needed, and we will refund your money". NICE... I'll be glad to sell them to anyone here too though. I will sell them for what I paid for them, and ship them for free.

That's about it for me right now.

I have had the same experince at WW. I have been going there for more than 20 yrs off and on (I work near by). It use to be much friendlier. Check out :
Austin Hardwoods Inc:

11353 Mathis Ave
Dallas, TX 75229

(972) 869-1770‎

I went in there once with a list just to check prices and the guys was vary freindly and knowlegable and seem interested in my project (tear drop on paper). They also carry the larger sizes of plywood. A friend recomended after purchasing lumber to redo his truck bed.

Thanks!

I have heard about them and my other friend recommended them too but I had totally forgotten about them Saturday. I just searched my two local suburbs, I figured if I searched Dallas I would get too many results and I was in a do it now get someone close mode! I will definitely note them and find out if they are open weekends.

Really? I never had that problem there. I always just walked to the back and grabbed the pieces I wanted. Sometimes I would be back there for a while finding the pieces with the fewest flaws. Never had a problem with the help. One guy even commented about my trailer and helped me load the wood onto it. I haven't been there in a few months so maybe the help has changed since then.

My experiences match yours Mark. Straightforward folks.

May have been an off day, didn't want to work Saturday, interrupted the game on TV (he was changing the channel when I came in), maybe he doesn't like long hair hippie types, who knows.

Thanks Chris! I have been on my hinge thread... :? and working on some new music too.

I made the the door hinge spacers since I got frustrated with all the details mounting up on the hatch, so I will revisit that next week. I think the spacers look pretty good, and the 3rd coat of poly is drying now (on the 1st side  )

I am going to a friends Tuesday, and getting my curtains sewn up Wednesday  and probably doing the grommets for the curtains Thursday (I found a cool idea for them that I will wait to share until they are done) and I haven't thought of Friday but it sound like a pretty good night to crack open a couple of cold ones and put on my doors!

Dangit. Wish I lived closer; I'd come join you!

A local teardropper has extended an invite to come out to see his Camp Inn this Saturday, so I'm looking forward to that.

MOAR pics, Thomasso! Ciao!

OOPS I just realized I should have done my little wooden curtain rod mounts at the same time as my hinge spacers! Dang! I think those are gonna go #1 on the list of the tiniest things that took the longest time!

I liked meeting my first fellow teardropppers, seems like we always have something to talk about! ;)

As always Thomas, things continue to shine on your build. I'm finding out too that a deal of time is spent on the small stuff or the stuff that isn't seen.

Keep pluggin away,

*sigh* this thread makes me sad. My teardrop is going to look like a total turd on wheels compared to this one. LOL.

It's always the small stuff that gets ya'. But you know its there and taking care of it now prevents frustration and aggravation later

Thanks Kdog, I hope I don't jack this up too much in the final stages!

I got one door ON! It closes, but you have to lift up on it. Unfortunately, I did not account enough for the hinge sag  It just needs to be moved over such a slight amount that it is not far enough to drill new holes. I'm at a loss right now.

It wasn't terrible doing it except that it's like 100 degrees outside and I was already sweating about drilling holes in my sides! I will get back out there and mess with it a little late after I cool off some.

I put the weather stripping on the face of the T-Molding instead of the door jamb, not sure if this is a good idea or not, if it doesn't seal good I may need to pull out all the door jamb trim and take another 1/8" out of the door jamb, then put the trim back on with the weatherstripping on the door jamb *sigh*, we'll see. At least the doors are removable. I guess that would be a way to solve the saggy door issue too, just cut more door jamb out of the bottom than the top. IT barely moves, so the hinges are good and going to work fine, I just didn't compensate enough, I was too focused on them being straight I think.

Here's some pics.
