Hi Dale
I have looked at your build site and noted some similarities to my Zephyr...

I have studied your drawing...

I have an observation that might help. It comes from a friend of mine who suggested I reinforce the seam at the front edge where the two forms make a point or sharp edge. This is where some flexing stess will work the seam open if it is not reinforced. The curved surfaces of the roof meeting the side walls hold up better because they don't flex in the same way. The curve introduces a more rigid form. But the straight line of the point lacks this along the lateral seam. So in the pic below you can see I added a spar that matched the angles. I had to think this through but when finished I had a solid surface for mounting and sealing both my inside and outside skins.

I also made a similar piece to strengthen the bottom of the front point because the stress issues are the same.

Let me know what you think... Hope it helps

Dee Bee,

From your pics, it looks like what I did at the front. At the front joing, I have two cross spars at the joint that are beveled to meet with flat edges that are glued together. Then, the front skin pieces (upper and lower) are glued and screwed to the completed "one-piece" joint. I felt like this joint would not flex and separate. It is possible to make a one piece joint spar that would make a curve, but I wanted to keep it simple. The same principal applies to the joint where the upper front skin meets the top skin.

The other picture you have shows a beveled piece that appears to be used between the chassis and lower skin piece. I have that as well. It looks like we used the same joint principals. This drawing shows both the middle spar and the lower "floor extension piece" as I call it that the lower edge of the skin attaches to. It doesn't show the top joint spars.

It doesn't look like my picture is making into the post...this is the link to it.

Dale

Sometimes I pretend to be normal. But, that gets boring...so I go back to being me.
