I have been lurking for a couple of weeks and decided to go for it. My husband and I are in the initial planning stages to purchase a teardrop. We are definitely not crafty or skilled enough to build one ourselves. We are looking at So-Cal and Camp-Inn. We have met someone here in Austin who has a chaser tent camper by Adventure Trailers and love the quality of their products, however their base price on their new teardrop is 13,500.00 with basically nothing. It seems like we can get more for our money with So-Cal since it looks like they have some deep discounts. My hubby doesn't like that there is no nose box on these which is where AT has the batteries and water tanks. We are very interested in dry camping and being able to go off road - not way off road, but we want to get to places where we don't have to use a camp ground. We will probably want to get some solar panels. Is anyone here using solar? We are looking at Engle Refrigerator/freezers which we will have in advance to use in our Nissan Frontier NISMO. Most of my previous camping experience has been with tent and backpack, however I have not been able to backpack in quite a few years. I am no longer interested in sleeping on the ground but am also not interested in spending my time inside of an RV. I think the teardrop is just right for us and can't wait! If there is anyone that lives in or near Austin, we would love to see your set up. Thanks
