Making your own t-molding?

Postby Von Pook » Fri Jun 12, 2009 12:39 pm

Has anyone made, or have advice on making, their own t-molding from basic metal angle stock? I have found that standard t-molding width (1/2 inch) may not fill my needs. Thank you

I believe Grant's t-molding is 3/4" across the top of the "T" with about 3/8" inch exposure either side of the leg. SoCal Teardrops has a t-molding that they use on hatches. It is 1 1/4" across. The leg is offset so that one side has about 3/4" and the other side has about 1/2" exposure.

t moulding

Metal yards have extrusions of t aluminum. I have some that is 2X2 but it's 1/8 thick. Not sure what you intend to use if for but if you don't need to bend it, the 1/8 might work.

Cheers,

Gus
