When it comes to buying solar panels my advice is to stick with one of the recognized brand names--like BP, Shell, Kyocera, Solarex, Unisolar--and beyond that buy the panel that gives the best price/watt. Among the major maufacturers there does not seem to be any significant difference in quality and none seem to over-rate the output of their panels.

Jimbo,
No, I don't think we could run our 12v lights off the small 3amp power supply. I have no idea how many amps it would take.
I just bring it along to run an extra item.. my rig is a qrp rig so it will run with very low power.

Unless you are using LEDs some incandescent bulbs run upwards of 1.2 Amps each!

Do you recoginze this one? I can't find the mfg on it...

I've seen those before. They're pretty expensive. $300 for 30 watts. By comparison, here's a link to panel from a well-known manufacturer that puts out twice the wattage for less money.

Back when I was in my younger years, I was VE3JHG. Can I get my call sign back?? My specialty was low power (milliwatts) morse. Does anyone still use morse code??

If your call has not been reissued to someone else, you may be able to get it back. Morse is still popular but I do not remember any of it. I am an Extra. By the way, I also used to work for ICOM. I left this past April.
