Awning to Screen Door

Yesterday, I added onto my screen door an awning made out of old shelf brackets and used aluminum as the top. I slept in the trailer one day last week during the night (I also take naps in it) and it rained and rain did splsh through the screen. So this got me to finally get this done. To remove it I just lift off the part of the brackets where they connect onto the door rails. Then the alum. just flops down and stores between the door and the screen door. I know it will be cooler as well. Almond on the top side and white on the bottom side.







I also added some shelf's for can goods. No the cans don't fall out when I travel. Tired of bending over looking for my favorite veggies and pudding and what not. Toaster has not moved in over three years.

You rock again! GREAT idea!...and I especially like the shelf bracket and track you used.

My first choice and effort is always to find materials that others have discard to reuse on my projects. Brackets and tracks like that are easy to find at yard sales and The Goodwill.

What's the awning material?

Window and door alum coil. I work for a window company thus screens, and the alum as well as the sink hinges. Once I remove the bracket away fromt he door part the alum drops to stow away position between the closed outside door against the screen door.
