Question about installing vent.

Does the entire vent assembly go on top of the roof framing or does that lower flange go underneath?

Don't quite understand your question????

Theirs the vent lid itself, that goes over the finished roof and must be sealed with putty tape under the flange that goes on the roof then with a bead of sealant around the outside edge and the screw heads.

then theirs the inside "garnish" that needs no sealant at all.

???

Hmmm, I think i mean just the vent assembly, no garnish. So it all goes on top. Thanks!

K, the flange sits on TOP of the trailer...a garnish/trim ring goes against the inside of the ceiling, extending into the vent body...make your opening 14.25"x14.25" and the framing 1.5" wide...if you don't do this, you may well have problems fitting the vent into the hole and the screws into the framing.......

What MJ said...(I used ripped 2x4s for the framing)

Ok cool, I'm getting ready to go up to the Local RV dealership (literally about 1 minute away) and look at their vents. I'll be looking into a smoke colored one. I'm slowly collecting part for my build. Now if I could just find windows....
