squeaka squeaka squeaka

Postby nikwax » Sun Jun 14, 2009 4:38 pm

I took my recently completed trailer out for its maiden drive, and with the windows down I could hear the suspension squeaking on potholes and bumps. The chassis is a HF 90154 (1450 lb) with Monroe shocks. Could the springs be making this sound, or is it more likely a bushing (spring or shock)?

Aside from strapping myself under the trailer and driving around, I've no idea how to diagnose this.

Why do you think creepers have wheels? ;)
Can you lay under it and have someone rock it? Or jack it up and use some spray grease on the springs, then go for a drive and see if the noise is gone.

sounds like a plan....the spray grease, not the creeper with road-legal casters

there are only a few points that are rubbing. The bolts that hole the spring ends and the little swingy member (I'm sure that's the technical term!). Get those for sure plus anything els that looks like it moves -- it should shut up after that.
