Lil bear premade doors

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby Mike_La » Sun Jun 14, 2009 8:05 pm

pb,

I'm not familiar with those exact doors, but from others I've seen, they're filled with Styrofoam(which as you know is a good insulator.
The ad state they are aluminum, so they're paint-able.
As for leaks, these type doors usually seal well.

Hope this helps,

Mike

If Grant Whipp is selling them they have been tested, inspected, subjected, carbon Dated, certified, rectified, fortified and approved.

Anything he sells is the best for what he recommends it for.

I have been dealing with Grant for years, I would blindly buy anything he recommends as being the best.

A lot of experience there.

Happy Trails

I agree with those above, and Grant is easy to deal with, call him, ask whatever questions you have.

Yep!

Sort of. The core of the door is just under 1/2" styrofoam sheet bonded on both sides by .035" aluminum sheet. If you want/need serious insulation in these doors, I'd recommend fitting a snap-on inner cover that is vinyl on the door side and fabric on the inside with an inch-or-so of foam-rubber or perhaps some of that foil-backed insulation sheet. If these doors have any drawbacks, this is it (and the fact that I can't get them in anything but white aluminum with black frames ...).

Drop me a line if there is anything I can help you with! As always, then ...

Grant, I'm hoping to place an order sometime soon for a couple of your big 32" x 36" doors with sliding windows in them and probably a galley hinge. I just have to get the money together first. The doors have been my stopping point because I can't really move forward without framing in the correct size for the doors. I have searched around for pre-made doors and keep coming back to your site as the best solution for me. I'm just afraid that shipping is going to drastically increase the price. It's very nice to hear other people's opinions of your character. I like dealing with people that can be trusted.

I bought and installed the 32" by 36" doors with the sliding windows from Grant. I used them to replace the original doors on my Guffman. I was never happy with the original doors because there was a slight warp in the plywood. The new doors fit just fine and it was pretty easy to enlarge the opening in the wall for them. They are very well made and did not leak at all during the very wet Dam Gathering. They have a nice rubber gasket seal all around the door opening. I have not painted them yet but intend to in the very near future.
