Anyone familiar with Haier Portable Airconditioners

Some of you may not be familiar with MSC Industrial Supply as they are primarily a machine tool and industrial supplier. I get their catalogs on a frequent basis since I have accounts with them for purchasing tooling for work.

Lately they have been running frequent adds for Haier Air Conditioners. One that seems the most interesting is the 7000 cooling BTU model currently on sale for $299 normally $475.64.

http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PA ... O=25042850

They also offer a 9000 and a 12000 BTU model as well as a couple models that are both cooling and heating. Those are 9000 BTU cooling/6200 BTU heating and 12000 BTU Cooling/62000 BTU heating respectively.

The list these items as
- Quiet Operation
- 3 cooling and 3 fan speeds
- Electronic controls with full function remote control.
- Actual or set temperature display (1* temp adjust)
- No water bucket to empty - auto evaporation feature
- De humidification Function
- Slide out washable air filter

They also list the size of the 7000 BTU model as 17-15/16 x 24-3/8 x 13-1/8 which seems fairly compact.

Anyone have any experience with these units or have any ideas on why this would or would not be suitable for a tiny travel trailer?

Yes but that is a window air conditioner which would require some mounting and such. Plus I find them aesthetically unappealing.

I was looking for some discussion on these types of standalone portable units. I do not have a trailer to put either in at the moment but I like shopping for stuff to build it from or to put in it until the day I actually build something.

Oh and the one I listed has a remote control and I am a sucker for a remote.

...well, those type of units have been discussed a few times in the past and a few have seriously looked into using one...they have been stymied by a few different problems...don't know about that one but most have a vent(in the rear) in the 3"+ size that needs to be run outdoors to keep from putting the hot air right back into the trailer, they can take up too much valuable real estate and their btu rating is too large for a Td...if you can come up with solutions to these problems(even if they work just for you) we would all love to see whatcha come up with...........
