8) The "stop itch" stuff I read the ingredients on was ammonia 8) Save some money. We used to use hair spray on chiggers but they changed hair spray so it doesn't work anymore. :(

we have chiggers aka red bugs -- oh how their bite itches - I use camphophenic (sp) but that just really keeps them from getting infected from the scratchin'. we used to have sulpher powder in an old sock and then you powdered your ankles with it. I think it worked and don't know why people don't do this - but I don't know where you get powdered sulpher

I have used hydrocortizone on big bites but I have used the clear Cala-dryl that works everytime. Its made by Benadryl and it is'nt as messy as the pink stuff. I have also used Solarcane on bites too. It's made for sun burn but it's good on bug bites. Good Luck

On the bright side we didn't seem to have the black flies.

Here are my legs after one day back in May at Fish Creek...

I found a pen, complete with the pocket clip and applicator tip that has 2% ammonia in it. It stops the itch on contact with almost any kind of insect, plant or marine sting. If it starts to itch again we just dab it again. Our pen always goes camping with us. $3.79 at Wal-greens.
