Hi From Colorado!

Postby JenniferandPups » Thu Jun 18, 2009 9:23 pm

Hi! I've loved seeing all of your gorgeous trailers and teardrops! I've always wanted one, ever since I saw the first one at a campground. My husband and I have been tent campers in a TINY 2 person backpacking tent (can barely sit up in it, and forget moving your arms at all) for the past few years, and now we'd like to join the world of tiny trailer camping!

A bit about us: We have a tiny old Victorian cottage (800 sf) in Northern Colorado that we are fixing up with our spare time, and love every bit of it. In fact, it's almost too BIG for us! There are rooms that rarely get used.

We have two biggish dogs, too, who love to come camping (though one of them gets very cranky if her personal space is intruded on... not sure a teardrop would work for her! She needs the floorspace by the sink or under the bed of one of the TTT's to sleep on.) They love to swim, fetch, and sleep.

Our favorite place to camp is Lake McConaughy in Nebraska; we go there to sail with my in-laws several times a year. (They have a 60's airstream that they've been working on for the past few years.)

Anyway, hi all! Can't wait until we find our "perfect" fixer upper TTT!

Hi welcome aboard. I'm sure that you will find yourself a tiny trailer soon enough. (I've had to pass on more than one fixer upper in the last couple of years because I don't have the space to work on them). If you have any questions then be sure to ask.
The quickest way to find me is on my business site. Yes, I do answer questions and provide quotes for free. Find me at: http://www.wenatcheefarmers.com

Up the road? There is member on the board from Mead, they have a Sliver Shadow. As a matter of fact, I saw them traveling North on I-25 last weekend.

Good for you, rescuing an old vintage trailer. It is just the right size, easy to tow and fairly light weight. I have one exactly the same size, however mine is a Kenskill, Standy. I suggest you remove the old roof vent, clear off all of the old caulking and re-install it, after cleaning out the cobwebs and oiling the moving parts. Usually where these old trailers leak is where the roof meets the side walls, usually covered with a bendable aluminum moulding. At the very least, wire brushing the top of the mounding and caulking it with a quality caulking compound, would be a measure you can take to reduce any further leak problems. A more permanent solution would be to remove the molding, re-caulk and install new, larger screws, (the original screws rust and often allow moisture to enter).

Good luck, and with that price, you can't go wrong. Oh, yes, welcome to the forum. Progress pics expected!!

Bill and Marijo~ We are ALL about character here. 8)

Roly Nelson~ I love "rescuing" vintage things! (our house is another!) Thanks for the advice on the vent... I know it was recaulked, but I'll have to look closer to make sure it was a good permanent fix.

I'm super excited to begin working on it. I'm ALL about pictures! We're picking it up on Saturday... and (perhaps stupidly) spending the night in it before heading back. It can't be any worse than sleeping in a blowing over tent filled with sand (our last camping trip), and we have the back of the Subie if needed!

Neat Trailer. Should be lots of room for the mutts. We camped with 2, and the extra body heat helps warm the trailer on cool fall nights.
I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.
