BAL Stabilizer Mounting??

Postby jjlentz » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:41 pm

Hey Everyone,
I'm in the frame drawing, parts huntin', price checkin', stages and have a question about mounting the BAL stabilizer jacks. Is each jack mounted at two points or just a corner "gusset" required??? Thanks for your help!!!!!

Every situation is different, you may mount straight, or on an angle. The bal jacks have 4 mounting holes. You'll want to use at least 3.

Here, on the Lil Diner frame we welded on some tabs... we later put self tapping screws thru it...

Mike...

P.S. In builds where the wheels are tucked into the sides, I just mount the bal jacks into a 2x4 in the sub-floor.

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Thanks Mike,
From looking at different pics. I can now understand how these need to be mounted. I'm in the process of drawing my frame out to determine materials and how I should mount certain things spare, jacks, etc. My plan is to get the frame clamped up and square so a real "welder" can come by and glue it together for me. I want to have my bases covered and not waste his time when he comes. Thanks Jeff

I used a couple pieces of 2x3 box steel, welded to my frame. For the rear I cut the 2x3 box in half. For the front, I left the 2x3 in tact. Check out my build thread for more info about it. I hope this helps...
