I've discussed with some and now am putting out the question to all as we're getting close. We've got a parade at our local fair that's about 1-1 1/2 long. After watching it last year and all the different things pulled in the parade it dawned on me what this parade needs is teardrops. I'm working on a banner rack for the top of my tear so I can fly the banner so everyone will know what we're about. I'm gonna bungy the doors open and let the kids ride inside so people can get a peek inside.
What I'd like to get is about 6-7 people that might be interested in pulling there tear in the parade with me. You could come down on Sat and spend the night at the local campground or come down on Sunday we'll be meeting at the fairgrounds at 1:00 for the parade.
Anyone interested just let me know and I'll get the paperwork taken care of for the entry. Just email me or post here.

Now we can get back to our ramblings and trying to get a KY chapter formed so we can complete the circle around us ;)

Scott, what was the date again? It sounds like a fun time. I'll probably be there depending on the date.

Yesterday, I sent our an email to everyone on my list for the Tearjerkers gatherings. I might have missed a few so Id like to repeat the suggestion on the forum as well.

The suggestion:
Instead of having the traditional "pitch-in" dinner, I'd like to try a "Wine and Cheese" event for the Saturday evening get together.
This idea is catching on at gatherings and it would fit in well with our large group as well.
The only thing to prepare would be a simple appetizer (cheese & crackers, relish tray, etc.) The prep time is way less that cooking and preparing a major entree for the "pitch-in".
This simple preparation would allow a more relaxing afternoon on Saturday plus a lot less clean up time and effort.

The challenge:
Bring along a bottle (or two) of your favorite wine, beverage, or unique beer.
This does not mean that "prepared" dishes are not welocome. I know how some of you love to cook at the campouts. These will only add to the variety of things to enjoy as we get together.

The Saturday night movie will also be shown (although a movie has not yet been selected). Any suggestions for the movie are welcomed.

I'd like to get your feedback so that others can see it too. Please add any other suggestions that come to mind about the alternate Saturday evening (wine & cheese) get together.

We had a couple bottles we had selected from a local winery in the Lafayette area on board for Raccoon but the monsoon gods took over Sat night. I am sure Vic will put together her killer cheese ball and we will once again bring the 2 bottles we selected.

Count Vic and I in if I can get the barn finished by then That only leaves me 2 weekends and there is still a lot to do. Worked all weekend with a jamed finger and cussed everytime I bumped it. Of course it is on my right hand and I'm right handed :? Fell and twisted my back later in the evening Sunday and now fighting back spasams. I hate back trouble.

Group Dinner

Postby TimJones » Mon Jun 22, 2009 4:00 pm

Well I guess fixing the whole meal for Sat. night will be easier. Got to be quicker to do all the clean up from that, than the one dish or pan from the group dinner. No new dishes to try?? Might be fun. No cast iron to show off, might be fun?? Unless you make your own cheese or ferment your own wine, you just buy them, certainly easier. I am more in favor of the group dinner, how does everyone feel?
Just how I feel

I remembered the water heater thanks I'll get it that weekend.
Look forward to seeing the Barn. Still 2 full weekends before the parade.

Edit: Just called Heartland he's got 3 sites in my name and is holding 5 additional. They're all together site 261-268. $27 plus tax ( i know it's a little steeper than state parks but it's about the only thing local)

Any one that want to join me Sat night and go over in the a.m. just let me know. If you want to meet at the fair grounds on Sunday we'll be meeting there at 1:00 just let me know. It will be a good way to show off our hobby to the world.

Yeah, (in truth)....me too. General feed back is what we will go with.

By popular demand, the "pitch-in dinner" is on the agenda for Saturday night as usual.

These "pitch-ins" have become a popular item at our gatherings so why change a "good thing". They seem to get better every time.

A menu will be compliled in the near future.

Maybe (if we have it), the "wine and cheese" could be on Friday evening so we can all get to know each other.

It might be a great "ice breaker" for the group.

We'll have many campers who have never met before and this could help "loosen us up" and allow for us to meet and greet new (and old) friends.

Any movie suggestions????

Stay tuned.

Whatever it is we're gonna watch it on the big screen, I'm working on a 6'x8' movie screen that can be assembled there.
 Think 6'x8' is big enough

It will be along these lines
