It's time for a new Generic Standy Design...

Well ,, lemme throw a question to the wolves,,, In most all of the designs for a "small" standy it seems like a designated potty room is included in the design,, now granted its a luxary but is it really a requirement,,,??? The potty/powder room is a huge space hog in a small camper,,, if ya do away with the room and use a bench as a place to hide/store a potty then ya really free up space for living, plus it opens up the space for a larger feel to the camper,,,

I am real interested in all the ideas and design sketches so far cause I am starting a standy based on a Scotty Serro frame,,, there are several things on my I wanna list so far and a potty room aint on it,, I want the area open,,, light weight,,, easy to build and maintain,,, simple as possible, 12v and 110v and an area to put my pants on standing,,, no sink, no propane, and a potty space in couch at front end of standy,,,

A 10 or 12 foot standy will only give you so much space and how ya use it is of course personal but for me room is more important than enclosures,,, (ya still cant put 10 lbs of taters inna 7lb sack)

I agree with you about the solid wall in a small space. I put a curtain between the bed and the rest. Instant potty room. I am at some point going to put an accordion door there.

If you are designing it, and building it, Why are your measurements so complex? I.E. 149 5/8, 69 1/8, 49 3/8......etc. What's wrong with 150', 69" (OR 70"), and 50"????
Am I missing something here?????? Will you even notice when it's built?????? Are you just making it more difficult?????

Here's a pic of the left side wall frame that we built this weekend.

There seems to be alot of conversation about what should and shouldn't be included in a camper. My wife and I looked at quite a few campers and found that they all had too much stuff in them. This build will have a queen sized bed in the back and a 2 person seating area in the front. No stove, No frige, no AC, No heater, No TV, No Bathroom, etc.

We did splurge and bought production RV door and windows.

Essentially it will be a dry place to lay my head and enough room that I can put on clothes standing up before heading out.

That's a good design, but won't you miss not being able to cook at camp? or are you planning on doing everything over an open fire?

I guess that I'm used to tent camping and using a coleman stove on a picnic table as well as using a dutch oven, I'd rather not deal with messing up the inside of the camper with cooking fumes

Essentially to me the camper is a dry place to sleep as well as lockable storage so my car is stuffed with clothes and camping supplies.

I'm hoping to setup the camper at home with clothes, bedding, supplies, etc then while camping not looking like a homeless person driving around in a car that is loaded with junk.

There is a retaining wall on the other side of the area that I was building the trailer and I wanted a somewhat straight on view so I stuck the panel on the wrong side to take a pic just hope that I don't put it that way later on when it gets attached for real.

I still have to figure out what I am going to do for a wheel well and the framing around that. I messed up the galvanized steel well from the pop-up trailer and am not very good with working metal. I'm thinking of putting a solid piece of 2x12 with the wheelwell cut out in it. I have no clue as to what would survive inside the wheelwell.
