Yep ... going to be in the 90's with heat index in the 105-110 range all week. Gary and I are going to leave Tuesday, the 30th, after I get off work ... so we can be to Cloudcroft on Thursday ... and then heading to Albequerque/Sante Fe/Taos on Sunday for a few days. Cant wait to see everyone (new and old friends). Packed stuff today as next weekend is going to be really busy. Gary repainted the Warrior this past week ... so we are more than ready to get on the road. Trudy
Where ever we raise the hatch is home.
Darn blank states keep getting further away and we keep traveling slower ain't never gona get this map full.

Yep, gettin' to be the 'monsoon' time of yr in NM. Wife & I were married in Albuquerque June 4th 1960 (49yrs, WOW, don't seem that long ;) ). 'Bout that time of year the wind would begin to blow around 10-11AM & by the time the afternoon showers started around 2-3PM there'd be a pretty dusty haze over the valley. The first few minutes of any T'storm it'd actually rain mud 'til the rain cleared the air of dust  .

We haven't been 'out west' for several years & are lookin' forward to gettin' back to country where even blades of grass give each other a little room 8) .

We're startin' to get the TD ready to go, & the P/U loaded. With any luck we'll be leavin' Sunday PM & hope to be in the Cloudcroft area by Jul 1st.

Question....... My daughter and her boyfriend want to join us if that is ok. They would be using our tent and would be set up in our campsite. . Let me know if that is a problem........

another thing.......I have never been to Cloudcroft. Is there any water nearby for fishing, swimming or just watching......... :worship: :worship:

Hey Brenda
Tell your daughter to get packed. They are welcome to join us as we have a couple of spaces available.
Fishing.........
The indian reservation has a lake stocked with trout. It is not too far from where we will be camping. No swimming in Cloudcroft that I know of.

Brenda,
We are glad they can make it.

The last spot has been filled by Ryan Gillis of El Paso.

This time next week we will be in the cool mountains.............

Brenda,
yes the website can be confusing.
Cloudcroft got a lot of rain last week and their high school was flooded.
I can't find any current restrictions so I will call tomorrow.

FYI...I've packed firewood just in case

I believe several of us mentioned the July Jamboree that takes place in Cloudcroft with arts and craft booths in the park.
Well................It isn't until July 11 & 12th.

They do have July 4th events going on but not the one I always look forward to.

I'm bringing fire wood I'm never sure if there is any dead wood at any camp ground. It's been raining like crazy so I think everything will be ok for fires. Also they do not allow any fireworks on any camp ground in NM. Yes last week the town saw some flash flooding so be careful if you come up to a lot of running water, do not cross it, it only takes an inch of fast running water to make a car float off. Be careful and be safe.

Hey Linda.

What time do you think you & Charles will arrive at the campground? If someone else gets there first do we have to wait to get in the campground? See you guys soon.

Hey Woody,
I am going to call tomorrow to double check on check in time. I don't think anyone can get in before us because I have to call and get combination to lock on the gate.
I don't know where we will camp Wednesday night but I'm sure we will be at the Lower Fir Campground as soon as we can get in.

Mandy,
The July Jamboree used to be the weekend close to July 4th. I forgot that they changed it a while back. We attended the July Jamboree quite a few years in a row (back when our girls were small, we would go to Cloudcroft about 5 times a year)

I will post information tomorrow evening

I'm all packed except for the ice chest.
