the "leak" could be condensation

small wires mean low current, and has nothing to do with voltage

I agree with Mad Jack

Postby eamarquardt » Fri Jul 03, 2009 1:14 pm

I'm a little confused with some of Mad Jack's calculations but I agree that a 115 AH battery will run the unit for about 5 or 6 hours (you can get only about half of the 115 AHs out of the battery). He's also right that it will only cool to 30 to 40 F below the outside temp. So if it's 95 out your beer will only be down about 60F or so. Not nearly cold enough IMHO. I bought one of these coolers at a garage sale for $4. I found it to be slightly less than useless and got rid of it. I still vote for a three way reefer safely installed in the galley.

There you have it, the world accordng to Gus.

Cheers,

Gus

...hey Gus...you confused...shoot, you should have seen me...a couple of cocktails, no calculator, not even pencil and paper...I rounded up...I rounded down...I rounded all the way around...I even guestimated and otherwise cameup with a certifiable SWAG...and it was even pretty close...bottom line is those units work and doit pretty well when used in a running vehicle...once they are off/out of the vehicle, they become a liability...not a workable solution, even on shore power for anyone hot weather camping...I REALLY hate green baloney..........

work pretty well

Glad to hear I'm not the only one confused with your math. See this:

I think they're still confused. Yup, if you had one of these units in a car with a/c on and the temp inside is 70F, your beer would be about 40F or so (if you wait long enough or put it in cold to begin with). IMHO, I'd rather use a small ice chest with real ice, then you have no doubt that your beer will be the right temperature!

There you have it the world according to Gus.

Here's mine. Modified Igloo Maxcold, case or so of the best beer in the world, two bags of ice and a touch of ice cream salt. Life can be good, sometimes better.
