Final Weight (Perhaps)

Postby Creamcracker » Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:44 am

I just took NAPSACK to the local granary where they were kind enough to weigh it. Overall weight came in at 820lbs.....that's pretty close to my final estimation (after I put the hatch on) using the bathroom scales. With the front tongue off the scale it weighed in at 760lbs ...which means my tongue weight is 60lbs.....I will be putting a tongue box on which hopefully will get it closer to the 10% of trailer weight which I was aiming for or approx 80lbs. Even as it is it pulls straight and true without any hint that the tongue may be light. I also had it checked out by the local trailer and RV place in town and they said it was ok. Other than that I'll be packing items towards the front of the trailer. Time to go camping soon!

You got me thinking about my real weight so I went to a scale at the landscape yard.

As we near finishing ours, we hauled it to the scales...5 X 8 GenBen waighed in at 950 lbs. loaded...with a tongue weight of 120. We have since added the PetCool...and our First Up canopy rides inside the hatch on the counter, so the tongue weight has undoubtedly lightened a smidge.
