the suspension units & wheels arrived yesterday.
useing 750kg un-braked units with 4" pcd hubs & 10" rims.
should be plenty for this.
will post more piccies soon.

has anyone ever put window tint film onto lexan ???
can it be done ???

I've done it with moderate success on my Jeep's back window, about a month after buying it I shot a rock through the glass with my weed eater :(

I needed a quick fix since insurance didn't cover 'projectiles' (needless to say they got dumped).

I put it on 3-1/2 years ago and it still is holding on well, the only real problem I have is some bubbles which are the result of inexperience with the tint, it has worked so well I never have bothered to replace it with 'real' glass.

Many thanks BVE
couldnt think of any reasons why it wouldnt work but its always
better knowing its been tried & tested.

couldnt get on it today, my car silincer snaped off & had to weld it back
on before going to work.
(thats a muffler to you guys)
repaired the same joint around a year ago.
would be nice to get another year out of it again.

Hi Del,
she is learning to drive allready,
that is drive me around the bend !!!

2 hours on it after work today.
fully welded the chassis. still to mount the draw-bar axle plates & jacks.

managed to find an old tow-hitch.
it needed a bit of freeing-up.
tested a 50mm tow-ball in it & there is little to no wear on it.
Image

the tyres are 18" diameter.
these are a little smaller than the ones on the drawing.
also the un-loaded axle height is 3". it only shows 1" on the drawing.
went a bit overboard & got 750Kg axle stubs so there will be next to no drop on it.
(got plenty of scope to add ballast if needed.)
may have to adjust the final location of the fenders to compensate this.

will post again soon.
best rgds dan.

3 hours building today.

not much to show for it.
cut & mounted the a-frame on the chassis.
welded some more of the joints. (a bit too hot today to be welding)
assembled the hubs on to the suspension units &
marked where they need to be mounted.

the strip is 2.5" wide, wheel is 6" & the fender is 11" wide.

the workshop crane is a tool & a half !

Psssst . . . Dan,

You have the plans upside down. :o
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Upside-down
:o
would be a shame to scrap it now,
not even been used yet.
by my counting its around 75 hours build time on it so far.
that seems a little low considering it was started in november !
my memory must be playing up again.
tell me it gets better :worship:

Instead of scrapping it, you could finish it and ship it to Australia--the wheels would be in the the right place there.

Only 75 hours? I spent that much time just getting the doors to fit!

Your progress looks great.
