Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I have been lurking here for several months and have decided to build a tear drop. I live in Visalia Ca. which is near Fresno. I like the idea of building your own trailer and this website is great. It has given me lots of ideas for my build. I went down to HF today and they had the 1720 trailer on sale. I purchased the trailer and now its time to get started. I hope to have it completed by the time I retire in 2019.

Welcome grouchosbp. Sounds like your going to take it nice and easy on your build and that's alright. Just keep at it and you may enjoy it before you retire in ten years. It's nice you came out of the lurkers area.

Lol yea thats what I said, wanted my Teardrop done by retirement. I retire this Jan. 2010, it was finished last summer. You get so into it Im sure itll be done in no time.

Good for you, building a teardrop to use during retirement. There is a good possibility that you may have it finished long before that time. These builds kind of get to growing on you, and seem to get finished long before you intend to. Once you start using it, you'll wish it had been finished even sooner. Ah yes, Visalia, I remember it well. Only an hour or so South of the Pine Flats Dam. I used to fly into the Wonder Valley Dude ranch, nearby. Pretty country, but a bit warm at times.

Keep plugging away at your build, and it'll go quicker than you think. Do take pics as you go along, and you might want to go down to the DMV and register your trailer when you just have the floor in place. It is easier that way, and you won't have to spend an hour during the show and tell that the DMV folks ask for. Good luck on your build, and remember, take pics as you go along, we love pics. Oh yes, welcome to the forum, you'll love it here.

I think I will have it done quicker then 10 years but I am going to take my time. This website is addictive and what great advice. It is a little warm 107 today. I started to put the trailer together but it was too hot. I will register it as a utility trailer. I also have a friend who works at the DMV who will help me if i have any problems.
