New here and almost finished trailer

Postby hytekredneck » Tue May 27, 2008 9:16 pm

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here, I've been looking for some time and I have borrowed ideas and knowledge from many of you here to build my on enclosed cargo trailer. I'm still working on it though it's almost done. It will be for hauling and camping both. It started as a popup camper then when the canvas ripped I converted it to a utility trailer and now to an enclosed trailer. I will be swapping out the axle so I can get the tires on the outside of the trailer and aslo to a heavier axle.I still need to make the rear doors and put the floor in.I took it to a local quarry and they weighed it for me and as of right now it weighs 940LBS. Just thought I would post my progress and say thanks to everyone here. Oh yea it will be painted to match the truck with the 2tone colors.

Welcome! Sounds like you have lots of ideas- how are you going to lay-out the interior?
Keep those pictures coming.

Image to the playground. Now all you need is some windows and a mattress. 8) ;) I just can't imagine carrying camping gear in a perfectly good trailer.

Looks great anyway and thanks for sharing it with us. 8)

Glad to see so many new people with real camping in mind and not traveling with their whole house.

Your Trailer Project

Postby Wild Bill » Fri Jul 17, 2009 9:24 pm

Sure looks good, what did you use to skin the trailer? Alum coil stock?

Good idea to beef up the axle, better to over build your foundation than to under build. Did you use metal Studs? I am at the I have a trailer frame stage, I have a clean slate, plan to get the floor built this summer yet if it stays cool in the mid west, Then at least I can use it to haul stuff with. Not wanting to hurt any ones feelings but I want to be able to stand up in my trailer, I am getting too old to crawl into any thing!!!!! Bill
