Teardrop sighting in San Dimas at Motel 6. Homebuilt with compact red tow vehicle.

I will certainly be checking back for tips - local knowledge is very much appreciated and explored by me!

That might be Gaston the Canadian... he says he has a streetrod shop in Canada. He has no phone, no computer... and usually lives just outside of Montreal.

If it's this teardrop, I met him a few weeks ago near Wrightwood, CA at a vintage camp out:

If not, then, well, it's someone else.

Now then, Scott! About your trip south to Carlsbad! I'm right on the way, just off of the 405 Fwy! (it's a much nicer route through L.A. than the 5 Fwy).

I've PM'd you my phone number and exact location; I'd love to see the teardrop (and the jeep) if you have time for a cup of coffee on your way south from Pismo.

Unless you are in a hurry, if you come through LA on the 405 turn left at the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10 West). It will end and you will be on Highway 1. It is a much less stressful drive than continuing to 101. You will be right on the ocean with many beaches if you feel the yen to pull over. You will rejoin 101 between Oxnard & Ventura.

When you reach Santa Barbara I recommend leaving 101 on the North end of town and taking Hgwy 154 over San Marcos pass. It is much prettier drive and you will be close to NeverLand!!! in Los Olivos and Solvang for Danish pastries. You will pass Lake Cachuma which has tons of campsites. The road eventually rejoins 101

Got back late last night from a fantastic California getaway. Big thanks to everyone that left tips for my travel. Exploring that kind of local knowledge makes traveling a lot more fun. Again, thanks Danny, Esteban, Eddie, Ron, Dennis, and Chris "teardrop_focus" (Chris, I'm sure we will have many more opportunities to hook up as your state is always a great destination place for my teardrop!)

I'll post a few pics a little later.

What was your path? Where in the California's did you trod? Did you wave on the way to your adventure? Most of all I am happy you had a good time. We may be falling into the sea or collapsing under massive deficits and people laugh at us but I would not live anywhere else. Moved in about 1960 and I ain't leaving.
