Another Noob, from Texas

Postby HKBB » Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:24 am

Hi, all!

Basic stuff about me: I live in Waxahachie, TX (~30 miles south of Dallas), 42 years old, married, one daughter who is 17-almost-18 who presented me with my first grandchild a month ago. I'm married to the most wonderful man in the world who thankfully is not insisting that I find a way to load the Harley he just bought on the TD trailer!

I like camping, hunting, home renovation projects, gardening (conventional and hydroponic), crochet, reading, baking, and a lot of other miscellaneous stuff.

I've gotten hooked on teardrops and am planning on building either a Benroy or a Rimple - probably the Benroy (if I don't do it right I'll donate it to my daughter and start over!). I've been thinking for a while about design, electrical, storage, head-room, etc., until my head hurts. Gonna sit down and do side-wall templates today. I figure if I don't get started soon, I'll overthink it too much and never get off my butt with this project!

Looking forward to meeting ya'll, and getting outdoors and away from it all as soon as possible!

Welcome to the board, and I'm not sure if you presently own a teardrop, or just a bare frame upon which you plan to build a teardrop. Building your own td is a great experience and with a bit of help from the Harley owner, it'll be ready to camp in sooner than expected. Good luck on your build, take pics, post em and we'll give you any pointers, if you have any questions.

Welcome to the forum Lena, check out the south central section. A few of us will be camping at Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake in Sept. Come on out for a visit & see some TD's or bring a tent and camp with us. Good luck with your build.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Joe Pool isn't that far from me, so come September I'll plan on coming out gawking outrageously, and saying hello to everybody I see.

That's a good plan. No two tears are alike. I took photos from 12 tears at the first Joe Pool gathering I dropped into.

You can't have enough ideas.

Holy cow, Rose is a teenager now! Done? Surely you jest. A teardrop is never "done".

There are several of us in the DFW area, including one in Ennis. Welcome.

Hi Lena,

Another welcome from me! Glad I could help out with your plywood issue too, I am <this> close to being campable so I hope to be out at Joe Pool if there are any sites available! I'll swing out and say hi (finally) to all the other D/FW guys no matter what as long as I am in town!
