Front-mount A/C question...

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Here is how we have mount ac on the tongue of our trailers. We just duct in the cold air and don't use the return air. It works pretty good I've been using mine for seven years without any leaks.

I had (have) the idea of trying to mount an AC in the front, down low, and building a tongue box around it with an expanded steel floor to vent it and allow condensation to drain off. All on a generic Benroy. If nothing else I would think that if you waterproofed the top of the box it should avoid any leakage coming in around the unit. Because of this idea I've found this thread very interesting thanks for all the great info everyone.

Ironic I was just looking at this one a minute ago in the hall of fame section!

I think this would seal just fine, also note the drip rail:

I have put mine in the back wall. It does take room in the galley but this seams to be the best location for now. The other idea i liked was a piece of duct and 2 -4"hoses. The problem there is you have to relocate the thermostat. I to would like to see the mount using the drawer slides.

That pic above is using the drawers slides too. I think it is a nifty idea although I didn't want to see mine, and put in under the galley counter.
