This may be one of the earliest depictions of a teardrop (with an upper story).
I went to an estate sale and picked up an old scrapbook loaded with cartoons of the era that had been clipped out and saved. I was showing it to an antique collector friend and this one almost jumped out of the book.

Guess the year...

I knew the bread loaf trailers would give it way.

1937

Everything in the srap book was from 1936-37.
I have a mess of newspaper pictures from Sioux City IA that year dealing with a massive snow storm. I may have to find the SC Historical Society and send it to them.

That was the only trailer item and made it worth the $4.

I keep looking for old trailer ads in some of the antique stores that have racks of cut up magazine ads. Fun to find stuff like that. I should have known it was 37....back then you could pull quads legally.... ;) Doug

I found the oldest non-teardrop Kenskill ad in a Pacific Railroad magazine.

This is the best shot of their first standy that I have seen.,

I found it using Alibris.com and Kenskill as the keyword. There was an ad for the early Masterbilt in the same issue.

I have located some Acme Beer stuff the same way

Look at that trailer on the right side. Wonder how long that one is. Still kinda looks like a teardrop.

I think Doug sold the Rocketear so he could build one like that one in the cartoon. He just has to work out the hydraulics for the second floor cabin.
