Washington mewcomer w/question

Postby Ageless » Tue Aug 04, 2009 8:55 am

Greetings from the Olympic Peninsula of Washington

First, the question; How large can it be, before it's not 'tiny'?

I have a well worn 41 year old camping trailer; dry-rot in the structure; which I am tearing down. The interior is 7' x 12'.

The plan is to build a light-weight camper using foam-core construction; fiberglass/vinyl over insulation type foamboard.

I am a single, retired aerospace toolmaker/machinist. Love rockhounding, so do much remote, dry-camping. Have recently spent 3 weeks in OR, CA, NV, AZ, UT and CO. The trailer towed well, but needs to be lighter. I have a 2008 Ranger 4 x4.

The design is unconventional; loosely based old style Pullman car. And BTW; I'm and old hippie and the unit will be named The Paisley Palace

Welcome from Olympia and two more "old" hippies! 8) Sounds like a good size to us. We are looking at building a teardrop at about that size. Sounds like you had a good trip. Check out the TOW site http://www.teardroptrailers.org/index.htm . Hope to see you on the road!

Cheers,

Thank you for the welcome!

Have spent hours upon hours reading posts and builds; gleaning ideas. Quite impressed by the talents and skill level of the folks

Have read much about the Blue Mtns; some great rockhunting area there.

Thru the years have accumulated materials for this project. Including the paisley for the interior

What can I say, welcome to the forum. I guess I am too old to be a Hippie, and can't relate. However, if you need teardrop or TTT info, just ask and someone from age 15 to age 80 will answer your questions. Good luck.
