Wow! I was thinking of getting a TD last year, but didn't. Then a few days ago, I got the bright idea to Google build your own, and viola! This forum.

Where's the head exploding icon? There are so many great TD ideas on here, I don't know what to do with myself. I'm ready to get started today.

Just one question: Where are all the pics on Doug's American Tear threads? That's my favorite (so far), but most of the pics from a year ago are gone.

Anyway, very glad to have found this forum.

Welcome J!! You'll have to pm Doug, I'm guessing he will share as much he is able. As you've probably seen...everyone here is willing to share ideas and each build is a little different. Have you picjked a profile yet?

Doug's American Tear

Postby danlott » Fri Aug 07, 2009 11:55 pm

There are several threads that cover Doug's build of the American Voyager.

The best way to find all or most of them is to click on the Search link at the top.

Put "american AND tear" in the keywords search field.

Then put "Doug Hodder" in the Author field.

Click on the search button and spend several hours reading about this wonderful teardrop.

JmTwo...sorry, I regularly dump photos from my album and change them. I can put in a slug of them showing some of the steps if interested. Welcome aboard, cook up a design and build! Doug

Well hello and thanks for the welcome.

Dan, thanks. Believe me I've spent every spare minute the last two days looking at American tear and Rockettear (and many, many other) threads I can.

Doug, thanks for the response. I was just kidding about the pics. I understand you have to clear space on a regular basis. I must commend you on your tears. Your work is top notch and highly inspirational.

I'm picking a trailer as we speak, and working up some rough design ideas. Hopefully, I'll have something to show in the near future.

Again, just very happy to have found such a wealth of information. The membership here seems to cover all aspects very well.

Hey Dude "john" Welcome. But like Doug said, start cooking a design. get the pencil out, experiment with some profiles and floor plans. You'll know when you get the right recipe.

I hope all this works out for you cuz building a teardrop, nomattertheshape, will be a fun experience
