Haven't posted anything astronomical for awhile
thought I'd pass this one along.
Tonight August 11 - 12
The earth will pass through the old comet trail left by Temple-Tuttle back in the 1600's, this years meteor shower had been written off by most astronomers, due to the bright moon that will be in the way just in time for this years shower, but just a bout a week ago NASA released information concerning an extra dence meteor stream that the earth will pass through between 1:00 and 2:00AM Pacific time
The prediction is that during this period there will be visible meteors at the rate of about 200 per hour, now even with the bright moon there should be at least one verybright meteor every minute, now that would not be a bad show at all.
So if ya don't have to get up too early and your expecting clear skies
set-up the ol' Banana chair, grab a blanket and a mug of coffee. Just kick back and scan the sky for an hour or so. Even if ya don't see too many I think everyone gets a bit excited when they see those lights shooting across the sky.
