Hey Burke;
The outside dimensions are just under 6 feet at 70 inches by 11 feet. I didn't really wand to go that wide but the axle selection up here wasn't that good so I made do with what I could get. As for the name, we haven't decided yet, but, I am leaning towards the Raindrop. My wife and I are leaving on a road-trip to Pennsylvania on the 13th of August, so I am hoping to have it roadworthy by then. I know the interior won't be done, but, I have the head liner on now and will wire it tonight. Tomorrow and Monday the roof goes on and then it's just the hatch,doors and the floor. Wish me luck. I need it. :worship: :worship: :worship:

Hey Terry,
Raindrop sounds great, but with your tear inlays as they are, "Trail of Tears" would be fitting also in so many ways--the number you have seen to this build, camped with, and with the outlay of $$$$. Just my warped sense of humor-lol :lol:

Well Burke, here is the first roof layer on and the Oak layer is on the bench gluing up to be put on tomorrow night. It will definitely be a long first run. I hope everything goes OK.

You certainly are a man on a mission, looks like it is coming along well.

Have you worked with fiberglass and epoxy before or is this project a first for you?

Hey John, Burke There is nothing like a deadline to cut in on your sleep. As for fiberglass this is the first time working with it. I am using the West System and it is very easy to work with. This project is a a lot of firsts, like welding, inlaying and basically taking on a project of this type.

Terry you help create hope for me, as I have no experience with FG/Epoxy. Did you get the West locally? I know there is a boat building center in Edmonton that indicate they sell West Systems.

BTW thanks for taking time to answer my other questions.

Burke, I got the epoxy at the boat shop in Edmonton. It's on 105th street and 63 ave I think. Here are a couple of pics of the first layer of epoxy on the roof. I hope to get the fabric on tomorrow after work. :NC :worship:

Thanks again Terry I'm glad to hear the epoxy has been easy to work with - the boat shop sounds like the place I'm thinking of.

The tear looks great! I'll bet you are getting a bit anxious with that deadline looming, although it certainly looks like you are going to be ready for sure.

Thanks for sharing your progress.

This is the hatch installed. Now I just need to install the doors and it's off to Pennsylvania on Friday.

Looking good Terry, you should be ready for the road with a day or two to spare.

You may want to double check lighting requirements, if you are over 80" overall (fender to fender) I think you'll need additional marker lights across the back-end.

I'm guessing you had to order the hatch hinge from the U.S. or did you actually find a supplier locally?
