Hey

Well, as things in 2009 really sucked. The family and I was forced into bankruptcy by getting laid-off in March but have now made the move to Newport News, VA. and am working with L3 Communications/Flight International as the Avionics Supervisor. It's a job and a paycheck but I already miss Kansas......waaaay tooo much traffic and people here but one does what you have to do. Anyone from the forums near here? Maybe I will get something built in 2010. :sweaty:

P.S. I talked with the Bigfoot group I know here in VA. and we may be shooting a PBS documentary in W.V. this fall.
Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.

I know the feeling Pete. It is tough in IT all over. The economy has made companies made decisions and farm out IT. :oops:
There are member in the Northeastern Group that seems active. When you get vacation time you are always welcome to camp with the Central Southwest Group. :thumbsup:

:thumbsup: Happy to see you landed safely! That is a very populated area. There are however some wonderful places to do the tourist thing and you are not that far from DC.

Oh and don't speed on the highway to DC. (I didn't) ;)

You are close to the NC Outer Banks which are lovely. HOWEVER, stay away during the summer. Labor Day to Memorial Day is best.

Pete, welcome to the neighborhood (sort of), I know what you mean about traffic, I used to work up in Hampton. Maybe we can get together sometime, Va. Beach is Beautiful and crowded this time of year, wait for after Labor Day. Hope things are working out well for you and the family, you are close to Busch Gardens which would be a good weekend trip.

Hi Pete....yeah I like Kansas also...kicked around in McPherson quite a bit when my daughter was in college there...I would spend as much time as I could in the state....we live in Culpeper, VA about 3 hours away from you....no doubt see you somewhere around this area in the future.

Sorry to hear about the hard times. I used to live in Newport News. I lived in Kiln Creek right next to the airport.

I agree with Auntie M. Your not that far from DC and there is always something to do there (and the cost is generally $0) And you are close to Williamsburg, Jamestown - Richmond - you can explore the beginnings of the US and explore the Civil War. Some great places to check out.

See what you can find........ And report back.

Thanks all. We are living in the Denbigh area of Newport News and I work at the Patrick Henry Internatiuonal Airport. I will share the area's history with my kids, can't wait to see the Mariner's museum again.

My father-in-law is from Norfolk/VA Beach. One of my favorite things about visiting is the fresh seafood. People there debate seafood like we do barbecue. I never knew a crab-cake actually was supposed to have crab in it! :lol:

OMG - and crabs down here is a way of life. Crab cakes are to kill for and went to a crab feast yesterdy - the dam things can go for over $139 a bushel (no don't ask me how many crabs are in a bushel- but it's alot.

Hey

Been working for two weeks now and it's taking a little to get used to since I have to be at work by 6:30am. Lots of overtime right now, so that helps a little. I am working with the "Sasquatch Watch of Virginia" bigfoot group and we will be doing a PBS documentary in October in W.V. should be interesting. I also interviewed someone today who knows someone that had a sighting outside of Danville, VA. two weeks ago. You never know. Everyone stay cool and keep building. :thumbsup:
