How to fix your drill batteries

Postby vairman » Fri Aug 21, 2009 9:51 pm

Well after 3 years of service my drill's battery charger bit the dust... So after buying a new and better charger I found that 1 of my batteries had gone bad, thus causing the old charger to short out... Now after pricing new batteries (about $60 each) I found a web site showing how you can ZAP your batteries back to life, so I thought to myself if it works I could save some major bucks on buying replacement batteries... So after zapping my batteries lo and behold they are working like new... Check out this link to see how it is done, after all free is free, and we all like free...

I am going to try this, I never knew that "cadmium-dendrites" had something to do with this but I'm not surprised, as I am a "Rabid Anti-Dendrite."

Seriously though, I have no doubt in my mind this could be potentially dangerous (the link explains the potential consequences). I'll use all the safety equipment I have at my disposal when I try it (gloves, leathers, face-shield & safety glasses). No guts, no glory!

Wish me luck!

<edit> Thanks for the link, Greg. I ride my motorcycle on I-35 during rush-hour sometimes, which I figure is about par as regards to hazard-level with this procedure. Pay attention, be aware of what's going on, and always "have an out."

if you are going to try this, I recommend putting the battery in some sort of metal container, or around the corner from where you are..

We usually use old ammunition boxes to charge our lipo batteries for r/c planes as they can explode and cause glorious fires that have, in some cases, caused serious injury.... and burned down buildings...

I'm willing to try this, but only in a safe environment.
