Postby big earl » Sun Aug 23, 2009 9:55 am

hi all, I have been in cognito for a long while things went crazy, I am getting diviorced, I was down sized at work, and lots of other smaller stuff came at in in a short period of time but I think I am about through it all, any way I have a question and it would be better decribed with pics

I planned on using adheasive foam type seal used on household doors but it didnt stck good enough, and I think I am comitted the doors are 3/4" thick and the walls are 1/2" thick and not insulated. Any help would be apreccciated.

Holy strombolli Earl your debut will be at the fall outing just weeks ahead of Halloween and you are already decorated for it.

On my hatch I used a garage door bottom gasket. Big and kinda floppy to form to the hatch, I'll go see if I have a pic.......

As for the doors I would look for the soft rubber ones the kinda look like a letter " P" Staple the leg of the P to the inside lip of the door and when closed it will compress between the door lip and the side of the trailer.

best I could do but you can see it is center nailed with large head roofing nails and this creates an inner and and outer ridge that keeps me weather tight.

Another thought would be to get weatherstripping without the adhesive strip and use the tube-type weatherstrip adhesive to cement the adhesive. You may have to slightly sand the painted area to have some "tooth" for the adhesive.

I used brush on contact cement (the kind in the jar with a little brush, like rubber cement comes in) when the sticky back didn't stick. Seems to be working pretty well.

Sorry life's been treating you so poorly, but that's an awesome little trailer you're building. It looks like it would fit right in at a Bengals game.

thanks Sean, I am pretty happy with the way it is turning out, I just wish I would have made it a 5 wide, well maybe the next one can be a two tone 5 wide woody
