I was first turned loose on the John Deere 40 when I still had to get out of the seat to reach the clutch and brakes. After proving myself on the John Deere, I was allowed to drive the Farmall M. First thing to drive with a windshield was a '56 Ford F360 flat bed with a 5 speed. I was probably about 12 when they started letting me drive the truck on the road (got my liscense at 14), but I know I was driving the John Deere to the little country store about a mile down the road when I was still in grade school, to buy my dad a pack of Lucky's and myself some penny candy, all for only a quarter.
