V Rod Jason, sounds like a Harley Dude. Welcome aboard and glad to see you have gotten out of the lurker bushes. I suggest you attend a local gathering, or at the very least, check out a build of one of your local teardroppers. It's worth the drive, just to actually see one, touch it and lay down to check on what it will be like when yours is finished.

There are plenty of plans available, but try to use your own creative juices to craft one that is the exact one you would prefer. Remember, pics, questions and keep us up dated with your progress. Good luck.

Roly, yeah I am what you could call a Harley Dude but I enjoy all types of motorcycles. I have a custom V-Rod I built a few winters ago. I'll try to post some pics in an album to show you all what I've done.

I have checked out a teardrop at the nearby Gander Mountain store. Got some good ideas there for sure. I buddy from work and I are both planning a build so we are putting our heads together for good ideas. He built a truck camper several years ago and knows a few tricks. We are both in, what I call, the "gathering stage." I learned from building my bike that not having the major components on hand to work with and waiting for them to arrive can dampen your building spirits!

I plan on doing some good planning and picking your brains for ideas and problem solving. I will need some help. Thanks everyone!

Hey vrodjason,
It took me 4 months and less than 1900.00 to build the "Costta Lotta".
I never built anything on this scale before, but I'm very proud of the way it turned out. I didn't have any plans--just built using ideas from the forum. Bought Steve Fredrick's dvd on inside-out way of building and used alot of his ideas. You can check out my build/camp photos at-- http://s215.photobucket.com/albums/cc145/panheadjohn60/
As you can see I'm a "Harley Dude" but have owned all kinds over the years. I rode for 40 yrs and just this yr gave up riding due to an accident in Daytona in 2000 which my body has started to suffer from. Little girl ran redlight and I did 2 flips over her but I did get a panhead out of it but have had to turn it loose after 8 yrs. I miss riding tho.
