Jeff:

I am so sorry for your loss. When you are fortunate enough to find the right person, no matter how many years you have together, you wish you could have had more.

Your wife's pain is gone and she is now basking in God's glow and reaping her rewards. The pain, depression, and anger that you may feel are still very real.

Just an idea that may help: Although it may sound strange, keep a fly swatter handy. When you get angry, you can shout and hit things with that without doing much damage. A friend of mine lost her husband 3 years ago and there are times when she still uses her fly swatter.

Take some consolation in knowing that you did your best, even building a beautiful casket for her.

Thanks everyone for your support during this most difficult time of my life. It is now quiet time, a time for healing. I know it will take a long time to heal, maybe some of the worst memories will fade, but I know the best memories will be with me forever. In going through the slideshow that her daughter put together for the service, I saw a lot of Donna's life before we were together, it seems like she was always the fun loving person that I knew for 23 years. I now have those precious memories to help me along.
Again, thank you all. And I do plan to see all of you at LCGIV 8)

Jeff, I just came across this thread. Ten years ago, I lost my wife to that very same cancer (in every detail) after 32 years of a very good marriage. We were both 53 years old then. I am familiar with what you have been through, going through now, and will go through. My prayers are with you, and all I can say is that time will heal things and allow you to keep precious memories of your happy times together in the place of the loss you feel now. May the Lord bless you with His healing.
