Agreed , new life!!! We've all pretty much determined our parameters and physical needs.. All different , of course.. :roll: hahahaha
Think we're all just looking for something that's not too Big as to make hauling difficult (like my 19', which is considered tiny in the RV business) and something that's cramped and uncomfortable .. We know the shapes available , and the building methods.... just need the extra fun tickets and some cooler weather 8)

well lemme throw a kink in ya line of thinking,,,,, I just bought a Scotty Serro rolling frame,,, I want a standie up to put my pants on ,, or off as the case may be,,, but in typical fashion I am not gonna follow the traditional lines of athe old Scotty to a "T" plus I have one additional item on my list,,, I want to be able to put a 4' rear top hinged door on the rear much like the 9' scotty,,, this is to allow me to pull a 550 lb Sporster inside and take it with me on trips,,,, now one question is will the springs handle the added weight,,, but dats just a detail,,,, :designing: the box will be minimalistic in design ,, light as possible and sleep 2 in comfortable bliss,,, I am just getting started but Mike this thread was full of ideas and also made me ask a few questions,,, but keep er going,,, I havent got a thing but a rusty Scotty frame so no pics but dats GONNA change,,,, :thumbsup: :twisted:

Any plans to make some plans? :worship:
This looks like something similar to the ‘lester’s nest’r’ which is similar to the widget which is real close to what I would like to build.
Some of the more experienced folks on the forum may have forgotten what an overwhelming thought all of this could be (understand that I say that in all humility and with the utmost respect). The ubiquitous HF 4x8 frame would seem to be a reasonable foundation, all this talk of larger beds and wider overall might be a stretch (no pun) for a Tiny trailer perhaps a moderate trailer- T&MTT.
A decent 5x8-10 starts around $750+ which jacks up the price right off the bat. :cry:
So basically I want you to create a detailed plan specifically for me- my budget- and in my timeframe. :lol: :lol:
I like the first of the two designs you posted earlier

Good choice, that trailer design. The layout is the same as the Giant Teardrop, but of course, the Puffin Standie is quite a bit smaller.

There's probably not going to be any time this week for me to play with a Puffin Design, as I am getting ready for a week long trip to MO. But maybe when I get back.

So how was the trip?

I'm wondering; how wide can a person go with a 5' wide frame? And how wide can a TTT be without the extra mirrors and without being cumbersome. Seems the transverse mount bed would leave a lot of room up front. I’ll post this question elsewhere as well.

How wide can you go without mirrors? The escape hatch was 66" and I think that was the perfect width for towing.

How wide can you go with a 5' wide frame... I would take it to the outside of the wheels, which is 78"

On a 4' frame the outside of the wheels is 66".

I'm starting to think about the Puffin Standie again... :?

If I design it on a HF 4x8 trailer, it wants to be 66" wide. But then I can't get a porta potty in there.

If I make it 78" wide and turn the bed sideways, then the wheels are tucked under the body by 6". Is that too far to tuck the wheels ?

It seems to me that would make changing a tire awfully difficult, nto that it's ever really easy to begin with. Would deepening the cutout section make that any different?

I really like the 'giant teardrop' standee, especially if it were combined with a cot-bed like Lawnjockey's build.....
