roswell build

Postby dandan » Sun Aug 30, 2009 6:01 pm

Greetings,
hope you are well :)

10 hours today & pleased with progress.

made a modified fixed roof vent.
Image

cant make my mind up if it looks ok or a bit cruddy.
only riveted on so its easy to remove if it needs to go at a later stage.
may put a 12v car rad fan in the roof at a later stage if it stayes.
Image

cut & folded the fender wheel shrouds / liners & riveted them in before
welding, then cut the holes for the lights.
just placed them in for a piccie.............
Image

there is also a forward faceing indicator & a teardrop marker light in the top.

have offered the fenders up & dont think i will be changeing them for double-
curvature ones in the future. they seem fine to me.

hope to get them mounted tomorrow, then its door & window time.
best rgds dan.

thanks bve for the view on the roof vent.
think its here to stay.

my brother dropped round to see it yesterday & was rubbing his eyes a bit.
he reckons im going to be busy answering questions about it.

anyway, 12 hours today.
capping run over the fenders then its mounting time.
made steel re-inforcement bars for the fender mounts.
apologise for lack of method piccies, was trying not to faff too much.

here they are..............
Image

Image

the numberplate brackets will provide a 3rd point of contact for them although
they are pretty rigid as is.

will post again at end of play tomorrow.
best rgds dan.

Your Rosewell is really starting to look like a space ship! It's getting exciting! Do you suppose they'll give you any hassles when you go to get it licensed and inspected or will the inspectors be too busy trying to shut their dropped jaws?

End of play must be pretty late tonight!

There is no licensing or registration of trailers over here, so no inspection is required.

Good luck with getting it ready for the Steam Fair Dan - looks like you may have a few late nights!

Love seeing the progress, fabrication, and ingenuity; but I can't help but wonder about the hours of aluminum polishing ahead?

Who cares if it is polished! Will look like it just passed through meteor dust slowing from warp speed.
