Bedding for a good nights sleep?

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

Postby cracker39 » Mon Oct 10, 2005 10:27 am

Ira, the foam forum is mainly for Rick to answer customer's questions. I didnt' see any customer to customer threads. But, Rick is sometimes slow to respond. I've been waiting over 2 weeks for a respone to pricing questions. But, that is where I plan to order my cushions. They don't do outside covers, but I can either make them myself or ask my sister to make some. She is more experienced tham I am in doing cushion covers. I did make a set for a couch I reupholstered and they turned out pretty good, but I had the old cushions for a pattern.

Foam...

Postby vairman » Mon Oct 10, 2005 12:55 pm

Check out this company you can select the size, thickness, and type of foam you want and it's free shipping! also if you buy the cover they will fit it to your matresss....

For a 47"x 75" x 6" of "Super Soft Foam is only $85.19 and if you want the cloth cover its only $39.99 for a total cost of $125.18 Not to shabby for a custom mattress...

Here is there web site: http://www.thefoamfactory.com

Hope this helps Greg

I'm on the verge of ordering foam for my matress. Instead of one big piece, I''m going to get 3 24x72 inch pieces to make it easier to get the stuff in and out of my doors.

I don't want to blow another $100+ on custom covers. It seems kind of a waste of money since they'll be hidden under the bedding. Is there any reason why I can't just go with the Dacron covers from Foamproducts.net?

Tom, As I understand it, the dacron cover is an inner cover to help the foam slip into a more substantial outer cover if you are using it as a seat cushion. Since you won't be, the dacron will probably be just what you need as a mattress cover. I plan on getting the dacron cover and have an outer cover made from good upholstery fabric.

Hey all-

Check out:

http://www.rochfordsupply.com/product_l ... dID_E_3626

They have varying densities etc., you can get a sampler to help the choice!

I compared prices against Knox and Rochford was far cheaper!

Cheers,

Coop

Futon?

Postby DandyWarholsTeardrop » Wed Oct 12, 2005 10:25 pm

Has anyone used a futon in their teardrop? Wondering how that might work/fit etc.

Will that foam place glue sheets together? Do any of the mattress suppliers do this? I would like 3in medium-firm foam with a 2in memory topper glued to it. I see places for custom dimensions but none about custom layering. I guess it wouldn't be that big a deal to have atopper but I thought it would be easier to have it as one piece.

Rocky, Get a can of spray adhesive from your local auto parts store. It works real good on foam. Use it to glue them together. I used it when I built my poker table. I think for auto usage, it's for headliners. Jim

Thanks Bledsoe! Been awhile since we've said that in New England! LOL
I had totally missed Norm's post but good to know he likes using one. This is what I'm thinking about. Found them at an eBay store. I like the fact they fold up...some into chairs too! The folding part may be more of what Tom Swenson is looking for but all one piece??

...Rocky, I was cruising around the Knox & Rochford foam sites and both of them were talking about gluing foam together and both of them offered adhesive thru their sites, I bet if you called in your order they would be more'n happy to glue the foam together for ya....for a price(or even free if ya asked real nice...maybe)

That is just what Rick at Florida Foam Products (www.foamproducts.net) offered to do for me. This is his message:

"Dale, Thanks for your inquiry, we can make a cushion for you that would work for both sitting and sleeping, I would recommend the 4" high density with memory foam glued to the top of the foam as the conmfort layer. What is the thickness that you need , is it 4" or can it be thicker? Thanks for your reply, Rick"

And, I think one time I did glue some foam togeher. I'm pretty sure that spray adhesive would work well.
