Not color correct....and I dont care!!!!!

Postby doug hodder » Sun Sep 06, 2009 12:47 am

So I was painting the wheels for the new project the other day and I had about a cup of leftover paint to shoot.....what to spray...what to spray?...Hey...I had a 1948 425 in primer all ready to go. I guess it's now the stove for the new trailer. I don't have the tank done, it's going to be in a white, and I'm not shooting any white for a while so I don't have it there to show, but check out the gloss on it and there are lots of wrinkles in the sheet metal! It is certainly "over-restored" and in completely the wrong color, but so what?...There are lots of them around and it's not all that straight anyway. It was a 5$ stove. I'm sure the hard core Coleman crowd would hang me....oh well...it's "electric teal" now! Doug

PS...rumor has it another forum member has recently purchased a vintage Military lantern of their birthdate....

Ya know, as I look at that picture I can see the brown overspray on the sticker and tank. Looks like a makeshift camo job.

Doug:
I think the stove looks great! You sure won't have any trouble finding it in the dark.
I can't wait to see the trailer it's going to be paired with.
Nice job.

Doug,
I think it looks great. There is nothing wrong with personalizing your equipment. I bet that half the board would want to personalized stoves and latterns of their own.

Plan is to get a black ventilator and then paint up a 220 to match as well. It does look blue Jim....it's a tough color to show on a computer monitor, it's actually called bright aqua, and a teal is a duck! ;) Doug
