Preway stove

Postby Shadow Catcher » Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:11 pm

Prior to going hard sided camping we were using a Preway P4523-A three burner stove that I inherited when my parents stopped camping 30+ years ago. We found it worked much better than a New Coleman we bought. It is in original condition and works perfectly.
Does any one have an idea of the age. I have a photo copy of the manual but it does not have a date.

I did find that and unfortunately it does not say how old it is. It was not young when I was growing up so I am betting the 30's. We also have a Coleman 242B with nickel base that appears to be mid 30's?

242's were made from '37-'42. There should be some numbers on the bottom. Last digit of year on left, month on right. This doesn't hold true for all lanterns however, but that's the case on the 242's. After about '48 it was month and year. Doug
