Teardrop sighting- Oregon.

Postby ED H. » Fri Sep 04, 2009 11:01 am

Yesterday, (9/04/09) I saw a real nice woody teardrop, and a jet black vintage touring car, 30s/40's, make unknown. All clean, and well-done. This combo was seen on I 84 West bound, around Troutdale/Cascade Locks at about 3:00 PM. If it was any of you, take a bow- the combo is a real eye-catcher!

I did not get to see that one but it reminded me of one we did see.
We saw this one while in Salem about three weeks ago.

Another excellent combo!

I was bitten by the teardrop bug over two years ago when looking at a variety of pics from the many T.O.W. (Teardrops of Oregon and Washington) gatherings from over the years...

...and T&TTT's very own Mike B is responsible for the excellent photographs from which the germ was spread.

:D

Last weekend I actually saw TWO teardrops on HWY 22 just East of Mill City. One looked tobe a CozyCruiser sitting at a rest area and the other looked to be a homebuilt with green fenders,

And I saw them all within 5 minutes of eachother

I just got back from a trip to Portland and Netarts, Oregon. Near my father-in-law's house I saw a nice little teardrop that looked to be home built in someone's driveway. I was dying to knock on their door and ask them about it but it was in the middle of the week and I doubt seriously that would have been welcomed.

If they are on the board I'd love to hear from them. It was near the corner of 33rd and Fremont.

I can't wait to make my first long distance trip to Oregon from Texas with mine. The scenery in that part of the country is spectacular.

Is this the car and td you saw? It belongs to a friend of mine. The car is a '36 Chevrolet and the td make is unknown but is documented with continuous registration since 1935.

We had taken a week trip to Mt Rainier Nat Park, Mt St Helens Volcanic Monument and down into the scenic Columbia River Gorge to see the sights. We were in the Cascade Locks area at that time frame. Got to drive some of the old Hwy 30 in the gorge area which has spectacular scenery. There were 4 cars and td's starting but one couple had to leave early.

Sunny and warm until saturday morning. Then the northwest rain started.
What a great roadtrip it was.

Another teardrop sighted in Oregon. Traveling south on HWY 97, I met a teardrop just south of LaPine, OR about 4:00 pm on Friday the 4th heading north toward Bend. We passed by each other so quickly, I couldn't see much. I think it was a white aluminum teardrop with a longer arc on the hatch. I was not towing my teardrop. Maybe some of our folks?

The '36 Chevy and woody in jack j's post looks like the one I saw that day. It was stopped on the side of I-84W, and I was Eastbound, so I didn't get to look very long..............

That would have been be the car and td you saw. Can't hide or blend in to the background when driving these combinations. We were going westbound, the Model A and I were ahead of Ken and his '36, and took the Cascade Locks Oregon exit when Ken radio'd us saying he had a flat tire just before he reached the exit. A screw in a tube type tires brought back memories on how fast they deflate. We ended up waiting on the off ramp till he got it changed. Even had two cars stop and take pictures of us while we waited. The rest of the trip had no "bumps" in the road.

Mike, not sure about the Oct camp in Oregon City. I would like to go. Had a great time last year. If I do get there it would be on Saturday morning. Hope there is not the weather that was at Shasta last May. lol

Jack ,
You would think you would be used to the kind of weather that you and Sue had at Shasta . I thought you were a NW Teardropper.
