Compatible Fenders?

Postby jjlentz » Fri Sep 11, 2009 4:33 pm

There is a huge annual car show at the nascar speedway in Charlotte, NC this weekend. There are going to be "158 acres of auto parts" on hand so I thought I may go and kick around down there for some fenders for my build.(or is this a waste of time?)

Question: Are there any compatible automotive fenders for teardrops....models? years??

The outside of my tire is 10" from the wall

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

Most auto fenders had part of the wheel under the body. The stock 34 Ford pick up truck rear fender would work as it has a flat back flange except it wasn't wide enough. Reproduction fiberglass fenders for early ford pickups come in wider hot rod versions and are around $200+ each new. I think Grant at Lil' Bear teardrops has better fender deals.

Jeff, there are not many(if any) auto fenders that work without modding however, at an event like that, no telling what you might find...half round utility trailer fenders can be had in those widths, look pretty good and cost under 20bux a piece.........

p.s. my 10.75 wide x 30" from RedNeckTrailerSupply...for 16bux a piece............MJ

Like Steve said if you can find some fenders that are not tapered on the back side (such as early pickup fenders) they will generally work. If you do find them they look great with some tall skinny wheels and tires.
