Building a TD Can Help Fix Your Wide Screen TV

Postby Toytaco2 » Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:37 pm

Sounds strange doesn't it. But, learning to build a TD from this forum has given me more confidence in other areas I am unfamiliar with. I have a Samsung wide screen TV which went on the blink by displaying hundreds of little white "dead pixels" all over the screen. Through a forum I learned it was a common problem and required a chip in the set to be replaced. Learning from other forum members how to do the job was not any different than learning how to build my TD from you guys. Instead of paying 7 or 8 hundred dollars to reapair an $1,800 TV, I was able to do the job myself for the price of a $160 part. :D :D :D :D

So, thanks again to all of you on the forum who inspire us to try new skills and knowledge. Just don't be afraid to try things you haven't done before. Usually, if someone else can do it, so can you.

Great site isn't it?
I learned to bend plywood with a teakettle full of boiling water and a beach towel. I bent trim by jamming it in the shower and running water over it while showering.
I hid fasteners with the pilot hole jig.
And more.
This is the finest group of people, bar none, so supportive, so kind, and so freely giving of invaluable information.
