My Stuff For Today

Got the Coleman to run with a new fuel cap and some messing around. Leaks a little at the pump.

The Kampkook fired then died right away. Probably just some junk in there. I love the krinkle green paint on there.

One or the other will be the stove that lives in the new tear.

Any clue on vintages?

On the Coleman...if it has a cast iron burner assy. with large Coleman letters cast into it and no stamped numbers on the front of the case, I'd bet it's a 417B 1940-43. Looks identical to mine, leg stops, tank etc.... Is there any remains of a decal under the handle? 417's had a decal on the case, but I don't think they had one on the inside of the lid. There are so many variations on this stuff, in terms of legs tanks etc....that I could be mistaken however. It's not uncommon to find Frankenlanterns or Frankenstoves, made up of pieces of other stoves since so many of the parts are interchangeable. Next guess would be a 425 1948 based on size and fuel tank ends but the leg stops aren't like the early ones. Nice stoves...and a great find! Doug

Thanks for the info Doug. I should have provided more info - the Coleman is a 425. I couldn't find the date stamped into the tank brackets like the later ones. I guess that means it's one of the first ones.

Yeah - I was hoisting my kayak up into the barn trusses and it slid out of the sling and punched a hole in my tear in progress. The good news is that it was nearly centered and that it didn't trash the cabinets since there was no hatch yet. Hence the compass rose

.....and denatured alcohol will take that "10.00" off the lid without disturbing the paint....
